This page was created to help the job applicant become more prepared for the interview process.  It was NOT designed to help the applicant 'fool' a hiring authority but rather help him eliminate the 'should of…could of…would of…' from the process.  The valued employee, who has stayed with a company for several years, is usually a little 'rusty' in remembering the steps of the interview.  On the other hand, the 'job hopper' usually does very well in the hiring process and needs very little prep help.

2.  Why are you considering leaving your current employer? OR Why did you leave your previous job?(The interviewer is looking for motives for changing jobs.

3.  What are your strengths / weaknesses? (Be positive.) 

4.  Why do you think you are qualified for this job? OR Why should we hire you?
(Directly apply your qualifications to how you can meet their needs.)

5.  What would be your perfect opportunity? (Describe the position for which you are interviewing.) 

6.  What do you identify as your most significant accomplishment in your last job?
(He/She is looking for your strengths.) 

7.  What did you like and dislike about your last job?
(He/She is looking for negatives, give positives.) 

8.  How did you get along with your superiors and subordinates?
(He/She is looking for your ability to fit in.) 

9.  How would you evaluate the company you were with last?
(He/She wants to know your ability to judge fairly.) 

10. What were its competitive strengths and weaknesses? (Again, he/she wants to know your ability to judge fairly.) 

11. How do you feel about our company -- its size, industry, and competitive position?
(Be positive.) 

12. What interests you most about the available position?
(Talk about responsibilities and career growth. Do not mention money.) 

13. What are your career goals? 

14. What do you do in your spare time? (Motivation.) 

15. What motivates you to work?
(“The sense of accomplishment and reward of getting the job done.”) 

16. Is money a strong incentive for you? ("Certainly, but other factors are also important.") 

17. Would you rather work alone or on a team? (Keep in mind what he/she is looking for.) 

18. What do you look for when hiring people? (Attributes he/she is looking for.) 

19. Have you ever fired anyone?
(Answer honestly, but if not, let him/her know that if necessary you could do it.) 

20. Will you sign a non-compete agreement or employment contract? 

21. What salary do you expect to receive?
("I'm sure we can come to something agreeable. What did you have in mind?") 

22. What was the salary of your last job?
(Be honest.)
